Emily Wax
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Emily Wax was East Africa Bureau Chief for the Washington Post from 2002 - 2006, during which time she covered the story of Umoja-Uaso, as well as many other stories that focused on feminist movements in Africa. She was twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and won the 2004 Medill Medal of Courage for her coverage of the conflict in Darfur, Sudan. Before leaving for Africa, she covered immigration and education in Washington, DC and won the Washington/Baltimore Newspaper Best Series Award for a series of articles on Latino high school students. She is currently Bureau Chief in India for the Washington Post. Emily has an MS from Columbia Journalism School and a BA from Rutgers University.

Martha Wollner

Martha Wollner has worked in documentary film for twenty-five years. She began her career with Maysles Films, Inc, working with acclaimed documentary filmmakers Albert and David Maysles for seventeen years, primarily as producer, documentary researcher, casting director and general manager. After leaving Maysles Films, Martha began her own New York casting company, Very Real Casting. Wollner has been fortunate to work with such talented and noted film makers as Michael Apted, Susan Froemke, Deborah Dickson, Henry Corra, Actual Reality Productions and Alexandra Parker of Roland Park Films. She has researched and cast documentary films for HBO, Showtime, Life Time, Oxygen and A&E. She has cast special feature programming for NBC, CBS, ABC, TV LAND, and ESPN. Her film credits include the Academy Award nominated documentary "Lalee's Kin: The Legacy of Cotton,""Abortion: Desperate Choices,""100 Years of Women,""Same Sex America," and "Risk / Reward."

Maria Luisa Gambale

Maria Luisa Gambale has worked for the past thirteen years as a cinematographer. She was the Director of Photography and Assistant Producer for the feature-length documentary "Reconstruction," which was shot in Romania in 1998 and distributed to international film festivals in 2001, including the Berlin International Film Festival, the IDFA, and the MoMA Documentary Fortnight. Her main focus is documentary, but she has pursued extensive training in lighting for fiction and has completed photography on three short fiction films. Maria also teaches adults, teenagers and children at the International Film & Video Workshops in Rockport, Maine; the Reelworks Film Lab in New York City; and in elementary schools in Westchester County, New York. She previously volunteered at Witness, a non-profit organization that works with NGOs around the world, using video and internet technology to expose human rights abuse and empower victims. Maria has a BA from Harvard University.

Regina Longo

Regina is pursuing a PhD in Film and Media Studies at UC Santa Barbara, where she teaches courses in film and media history. Formerly film archivist at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, she was responsible for the acquisition, preservation and documentation of footage from the WWII era. Regina's credits as archival film researcher include the Berlin Festival award winning "Va, Vis et Deviens," and the HBO award winning documentary "Hitler's Pawn." She has curated screenings for the "Don't Knock the Rock Film Festival" and continues to present her research at international film and media studies conferences.

Rebecca Losick

Rebecca Losick has been working in documentary film for the past 16 years. She got her start at Maysles Films Inc. and served as Associate Producer for the following films co-directed by Albert Maysles: “The Gates” for HBO; “With the Filmmaker” for IFC; “Vote For Change” for Sundance “This Is An Adventure with Wes Anderson” for Criterion and "Before I Leave" for Bill Moyer's "Now." She is also the producer of “Telling It Like It Is” which documents the life of artist Bill Utermohlen, currently in post-production. In March of 2007 she traveled to Kenya as sound recordist for a film project of the United Nations’ World Food Programme.

Xan Parker
CONSULTING PRODUCER
Xan began her career as part of the filmmaking team at Maysles Films, where she learned the ideals and methods of direct cinema and Associate Produced the 2001 Academy Award-nominated “"Lalee's Kin: The Legacy Of Cotton."” Her credits include “"The Hill"” (Producer; Sundance Channel), "Made" (Director/Producer, MTV), “"The Diversion” (Executive Producer), “"The D Word"” (Executive Producer) and "The Bear Hunter" (Co-Producer). She is Consulting Producer on Jennifer Fox's “"Flying: Confessions of a Free Woman," and often consults for PBS documentary series "P.O.V." In fall of 2006, her company's documentary series “"The Hill"” aired on the Sundance Channel.

Michael Pope
EDITOR
Michael Pope is an accomplished experimental filmmaker and musical video director. He is the director, screenwriter, editor, actor and composer for his experimental epic Neovoxer, a feature-length, non-dialogue film with music and sound effects performed live. The screenings are events in their own right often including preshow performances by body painted living statues and musicians. Michael Pope is probably best known for his work with The Dresden Dolls. He is director, cinematographer and editor for their music videos: "Girl Anachronism", "Coin-Operated Boy ", "Sing" and " Backstabber".

Angela Reginato
EDITOR
Based in San Francisco, Angela studied architecture at UC Berkeley and began her career as an assistant editor on "The Weather Underground". Since then she has worked on films such as "The Real Dirt on Farmer John" and "Professional Revolutionary: The Life of Saul Wellman". Her work has been featured in SFInternational, the Rotterdam International Film Festival, and the Berlin Film Festival, and has been broadcast on various PBS stations. Her latest films include "Cartography of Ashes ", a poetic documentary about the San Francisco Earthquake, and "Lost and Found" a narrative short about a girl and a mysterious book.
